A dissomaster generates support guidelines based primarily on a party’s earnings and time share with the children. There are also other factors that can affect the amount of support one party pays the other. In mediation, however, couples can negotiate a support amount and duration that may be different than the dissomaster calculates but it is still an important tool and the prevailing method in establishing child support guidelines.
