California Divorce: Questions and Answers

Q: Should my children participate in the mediation at any time?

Mediation is a process that helps adults reach an agreement that both sides can live with. Throughout the process, however, the children’s best interest should factor into almost every decision the couple makes. Even if the children are older, it is better to let the couples make the final decisions. A good mediator will often ask the parties how a certain decision will affect the kids and ask them to look at it from their children's perspective.
