Q: What paperwork do I need for a California child custody and support agreement?

A Marital Settlement Agreement contains a Parenting Plan which outlines each parent’s legal time schedule with their children. The goal of the agreement is to create a visitation schedule that fits the parents and children’s lives. Schedules in the agreement are a wonderful guideline for everyone involved but it is always best if both parents can be flexible when circumstances arise that requires a change or exchange of time with their children. The agreement also addresses the issue of child support in exact numbers. It spells out who pays who, how much, how often and the due date of the support check. The couple also has the option of wage garnishment or enforcement through the District Attorney’s office.
